Uffz. Heinrich Bühlmann - 11./NJG 5 (jul 1944)
I am trying to find details of pilot Uffz. Heinrich Bühlmann, EK II and I, night fighter clasp. Operating from Maintz-Finthen on 25 Jul 1944 flying Bf 110G-4 he shot down a 4 motor bomber at 0225 80km 290 deg Stuttgart. He visited the downed aircrew at a later date and explained that coming in underneath and behind gave the bomber little chance.
Apart from 1 confirmed victory, I can find no further information on Bühlmann. Can anyone please help.
My father was one of the surviving bomber crew and he would like to think that Bühlmann survived the war
Roscobie

The preeminent website for questions concerning Luftwaffe night fighter personalities, victories, losses, etc., is:
http://forum.12oclockhigh.net/
It has hundreds of threads on the subject and the No. 1 authority is a Dutch fellow by the name of Theo Boiten. If anyone can give you more information about Bühlmann, he can. Boiten is currently writing a revised edition of his multi-volume Night Fighter War Diaries that was first published several years ago.

Hello Roscobie,
Heinrich Buhlmann did survive the war, but I have no been able to trace any details of him post-war. His victory on 24 - 25.07.44 was his first and only confirmed victory in WWII.
In my new series of books, I will give a very detailed account of the Stuttgart raids in late July 1944, including an analysis of all the Nachtjagd and Luftwaffe Flak and Flak searchlight claims plus matching Bomber Command losses to all of these victory claims.
Hope this is of use, cheers, Theo

Are we still looking at late summer 2017 for the first of your revised and expanded editions to begin appearing? It would be very helpful if you could give us a little information on the name of the publisher, how many books there will be and when we should start looking for them. You are the only person I know who has every been able to read the horrible and at times illegible handwriting in the Flak claims microfilms. I have had these Abschuß microfilms for 30 years now and I still cannot read 80% of the Flak entries.
