What about Gen. Heinz Trettner (19.09.1907)?

He was promoted Gen. Lt. (Two Star General) in the Luftwaffe and was awarded Ritterkreuz and Eichenlaub as General Staff Officer in the Airborne Troops.

He was accepted into the Bundeswehr as two-star-general (Gen. Maj.) and was promoted 3-star-general (14.10.1960) and 4-star-general (01.01.1964). He led the Ist (GE) Corps 1960-1963 and was General Inspector (Supreme Commander) of the Bundeswehr 1964-1966.

His list of post war awards is quite impressive:
Merit Order of the Federal Republic of Germany, Grand Merit Cross with Star and Shoulder Sash: 18 January 1967.
French Legion of Honor, Grand Officer: 31 December 1969.
British Royal Victorian Order: 18 May 1965.
U.S. Legion of Merit, Commander: 1 November 1964.
Merit Order of the Italian Republic, Grand Officer: 8 August 1965.
Greek Order of George I, Grand Officer: 16 July 1965.

Trettner would be the highest followed by the small group of Generalmajor with us. I heard a rumour Dietrich Beelitz has recently passed but I can't confirm this, if he has rest in peace old soldier my heart goes to your family.

Gareth
