Luftwaffe-Expert Hans-Karl Mayer

Hi gentlemen!

Can anybody provide a pic of Hptm. Hans-Karl Mayer, Cdr. I./JG 53.

I think he is the most underrated and unknown of the aces. He already died on 17.10.1940 with a score of 38 confirmed kills (of which 8 in Spain) and was the first of the famous aces who had to depart. He received the Ritterkreuz on 03.09.1940.

He was No. 8 (22 kills) in the Battle of Britain (behind Wick, Galland, Oesau, Mölders, Joppien, Ihlefeld and Schöpfel).

I have never seen a (online) pic of him.

Thank you very much,
Stauffenberg II

Thank you Glenn!

I didn´t know that you are a specialist in Luftwaffe experts, too. But you really seem to cover all needs of war history.

Regards,
Stauffenberg II
