Family: Married Margarete Goerne on 1 October 1913 – two sons: Heinz Günther (born 23 August 1914) and Kurt (born 17 September 1918). Heinz Günther received the Knight’s Cross of the Iron Cross on 5 October 1944 as a Major in the General Staff serving as the Operations Officer (Ia) of the 116th Panzer Division. He ultimately achieved the rank of Oberstleutnant in World War II. Heinz Günther Guderian later served in the post-World War II German Army (Bundesheer) and reached the rank of Generalmajor. He is the author of From Normandy to the Ruhr: with the 116th Panzer Division in World War II.
I really don't know any details about Kurt Guderian.
Regards,
Shawn

there are family portraits of the Guderians, including wife and sons, in the following book
Generaloberst Guderian und die Entstehungsgeschichte des modernen Blitzkrieges
Dr Dermot Bradley
Biblio Verlag osnabrück
This dissertation deals excellently with Heinz Guderians early years, using all possible material from the family archive (letters, reports, pictiures, interviews etc). It explains in painstaking detail how Heinz develoepd the blitzkrieg theories from his WW1 experiences, and how difficult it turned out to be to convince the utterly conservative prussian officers.
A great read, only in German!
By the way, Heinz-Günther Guderian (eldest son) is still alive. I seem to remember that the younger son died in the war, I'm not sure though.
