Paul Carell devotes 5 pages to Hoppe's advance into the Leningrad suburbs in September 1941.

This guy sounds a character---calls himself Harry and also nicknamed Stan Laurel.

Was he actually demoted in moving from the 126th Infantry Division command,to the 278th Volksgrenadier in Italy?
