Re: SS-Sturmbannführer Hans Bothmann
This is an old topic but I hate to start another Hans Bothmann thread.
I am trying to compile his career assignments. Can anyone help with this? I am stuck at this point:
Stapoleitstelle ........... (01.11.1935 – 00.00.0000)
Stapoleitstelle Berlin (01.08.1937 – 00.00.0000) as Candidate Kriminalkommissar
Stapoleitstelle Leipzig (00.00.0000 – 00.03.1942) as (I can't find the promotion date to KK)
Stapoleitstelle Posen (Poznan) (00.03.1942 – 00.04.1943) as Kriminalkommissar
.......................... (00.00.1943 - 00.00.1944) W-SS service in Yugoslavia
Stapoleitstelle Posen (Poznan) (00.03.1944 – 00.01.1945) as Kriminalkommissar
......................... (00.01.1945 – 00.00.1945) (His driver said B worked in a liaison capacity with Himmler's office)
......................... (00.00.1945 - 00.05.1945)
The interweb tells me his last assignment was in Flensburg with 1) SIPO and 2) Border Police. What are the sources for this, or better yet, what actually what his last assignment?
One other thing, has anyone seen any documentation about his service in Prinz Eugen - specific unit assignment, etc?
If possible, please offer sources for info.
Thanks much
Patrick

Reason: back then it was "Stapoleitstelle Posen", the name of the town is now Poznan.

Thanks for the photos, but the small portrait photo on the left is not Bothmann. It is a Schutzpolizei guard named Bolmann who served in Chelmno.

Re: SS-Sturmbannführer Hans Bothmann
A Befehlsblatt der Sipo und SD from 1944/ausgabe A, mentions an SS-Hstuf and Krim.Komm. Bohtmann being with the KdS Posen in 1944 and promoted to Krim.Rat in 1944.
I suppose this document is referring to Hans Bothmann.
Greetings, Mike

Re: SS-Sturmbannführer Hans Bothmann
According to John Moore's Waffen-SS listing, Bothmann joined the LAH (Berlin) in August 1934 as SS-Mann.
SS No. 117630.
From Spotted Cow's listing, he was probably a Kriminalassistentenanwärter with Stapoleitstelle Berlin from I Nov 1935 before being accepted as a Kriminalkommissaranwärter. This was a typical route.
He was certainly a "full" KK in 1940 with Stapostelle Leipzig (listed in BBL 33/40).
Working back from that, he possibly took the KK-Lehrgang in 1938-1939.
Unfortunately I have not yet found in German archives complete listings for the 30+ Kriminalkommissar courses between 1933 and 1944.

Incidentally, I think Yad Vashem have the wrong date of death in the picture above.
I believe it 4 April 1946 not 4 April 1945 (the war was not over in April 1945 and the Brits did not have a POW camp at Heide on this 1945 date).

they make the same mistake, using the small photo as "Bothmann" , nearby a collection with Portrait photos you ca read "Bolman"
