I red that SS Gruf Bruno Streckenbach was a candidate for leadership of RSHA but Himmler prefered Kaltenbrunner.

Hi !!!

Not Himmler but Hitler prefered Kaltenbrunner (both from Austria). SS-Gruf. Streckenbach was temporary Chef RSHA from Heydrich's dead to promote Kaltenbrunner.

He resigned from RHSA 12th June 1940 he had fallen out with Heydrich because he believed in the State over the Party and he wanted a legal basis to be established for every change in the law. He went into the field of military govenment in France

According to "SS: Alibi of a Nation" by Gerald Reitlinger, Walter Schellenberg and Wilhelm Stuckart seemed to be the two most likely successors at the time of Heydrich's death. Schellenberg didn't get the position because he had too many foreign contacts and Himmler felt that Stuckart was too much of a lawyer.
