How many generals (from Gen. maj. to Gen. Fieldmarschall) and Admirals (Vizeadmiral to Grossadmiral) were in the wehrmacht/krigsmarine throughout the war (1939-1945)?
Thank you in advance, gentlemen.

Oh, sorry. My intention was to separate the general ranks (Heer and Luftwaffe) from the admiral ones.

daveh, thank you for the info, but I still need the number of admirals+ Gen Leut. and Gen. Maj.,
anyone?
best,

AHLF.

P.s. daveh, If you include Bohm Ermolli among the Generalfeldmarschalls, you should also remember good old August von Mackensen, 1849-1945.

The Army (Heer) generals, including not only the Troops Officers, but also the Medical Officers, etc. come up to about 2600 in total. Feel free to count them at:

Cheers,

Hans

AHLF,

the following table is based on the figures given in Die Wehrmacht-Elite by Reinhard Stumpf. It does not include medical, veterinary generals etc.

Glenn
