Hi,

in the generalgouvernement,
in each district was created an "arbeitsstab der Allgemeine SS"
The SSPF was the leader and members of his staff had dual duties in staff SSPF and staff arbeitstab.

the "Germanske SS Norge" was organised like Allgemeine SS but the basic unit was the "SS Storm"
only one SS Stormbann was situated in Oslo on 43.

The "Germanske SS Norge" had subunits over all Norway. It was created a "pure" SS-Standarte in Oslo in 1944 with Erdmann Skudlarek as commander, the last standarte formed (128th if I'm not mistaken). I wrote an article about this on Marcus Swedish forum but haven't had time to translate it as of yet.....

Hi Martin,

in spite I don't speak swedish, I red your article.
the question of 127 SS standarte is interesting.

the german allgemeine SS organisation include in his organisation only
Reich german or volksdeutsche SS einheiten.

the last SS standarten der Allgemeine SS were created in the following SS Oberabschnitten :

SS Oberabschnitt Bohmen u Mahren (tchécoslovakia and Sudetenland)
SS Oberabschnitt Wartheland (for Posnanie)
SS Oberabschnit Weichsel (for Danzig Westpreussen)
SS Oberabschnitt Rhein Westmakr (for Lothringen)
SS Oberabschnitt Sudwest (for Elsass)
SS Oberabschnitt Alpenland (for South Carinthia)

125 SS standarte in Metz (Lothringen) where I live was composed of SS german members serving in civil administration or police (Schupo or Gendarmerie) and selected Lorrains from Departement de la Moselle considered as Volksdeutsche they were all members of the DVG (the NSDAP organisation for NS lorrains) and most of them where enlisted in Waffen SS.
126 SS Standarte was created in Marburg a Drau with Volksdeutsche.

was 127 SS Standarte created with german and volkdeutsche from Norway ?

best

You're right, it was no: 127, thanks! Of course you'll get a copy when it's translated.

The thing with this SS-Standarte is interesting as it was the only occupied western country that got such a unit, why do I not know. There were no large majority of Volkdeutsche in Norway. The purpose was to get one loyal unit under German control, only.
I know that the intentions with GSSN was to get an SS-Unit that was loyal to Hitler alone but Quisling and his personal succeeded to avoid this as the control of GSSN were divided by the NS party and Germany.

Also note that there was a forerunner to GSSN named Norges SS, the structure was as follows:

Norges SS

Ledare (Commander) Jonas Lie

Kurs Norges SS Elverum (Organisationsstruktur) (SS-School Elverum)

Sjef (School Commander)
Nestkommanderende (Deputy)

Intendant

Sjef 1. Tropp

Sjef 2. Tropp

Sjef 3. Tropp

The Norges SS was to get small influence when the attack on Russia began a few months later and the vast majority of it's personel enlisted for frontservice. When the GSSN was formed the structure was as follows:

GSSN

Fører (Commander) Jonas Lie/Sverre Riisnæs*
Nestleder (Deputy) Sverre Riisnæs
*Sverre Riisnaes replaced Lie as commander for GSSN in 1945, Rediess as well as German authorities thought that Lie was too weak, this had been discussed previously but Lie remained as commander, the reason why he wasn't to be replaced at once is unknown to me. Both were in the end of the war at a farm in Skallum where they made recistance. The requested help (Men) from Quisling but he denied to send any. Lie died at Skallum, some says suicide but the cause of death is not 100% clear. Riisnaes surrendered and was to spend several years in prison.
