Death of Luftwaffe General Bernhard Waber

#1

Post by Geli » 22 Jul 2003, 05:13

Hi, Everyone! A friend of mine would like some information on:

Luftwaffe General d. Flieger Bernhard Waber

My friend found a source on him that said: "Condemned to death 23.11.44 and executed in Spandau prison 6.2.45." Does anyone know why he was sentenced to death? Was he involved with the 20 July 1944 plot against Hitler?

Any photos or information on Berhard Waber would be appreciated.

Here are Waber's assigments:

a. Luftgau Kommando VII 1.5.39 - 31.10.41

b. Luftgau Kommando Kiew 23.22.41 - 10.9.42

c. Luftgau Kommando Charkow 10.9.42 - 1.4.43

c. Feldluftgau Kommando XXX 1.9.43 - 29.8.44

d. Deutsche Lustwaffe Nordbalken 20.8.44 - 1.11.44

Per The Fallen Generals: The Destruction of the German Officer Corps in World War II and its Aftermath by Andris J. Kursietis (ARK Publications Company, 1994), General der Flieger Waber was condemned to death by a special court convened by Reichsmarschall Göring for alleged looting and black market activities.

Shawn
