Sinjoorke wrote:Hello again Denis,
thanks very much for your reflection on the young Pz-man mystery. If I may, I would like to come back once more on the case. I ad here the photo that I was referring to, of Hans-Günther Voigt, with a detail of the afterwards added RK, since he was awarded posthumously. I also don't see a ribbon. It's clear that it is too big, but I wonder if you can clarify why he is waring such a dark (black) uniform as a grenadier, because I don't have such an expertise in that matter? Do you have knowledge how they photograficaly added that RK in those days? In the case of that young Pz-man and in case it was added photograficaly it looks to me a simpler technique than in the case of Voigt, because it is so horizontal and 2-dimentional.
Thanks in advance,
Hugo.
Hello Hugo
about the Voigt picture you have posted, the dark color of the uniform is just due to the poor quality of the B/W photo. However, you can see that even if it is very dark that Voigt's jacket is a typical Feldgrau bluse (see chest pockets) usually wore by all WH/WSS members except hose belonging ot Panzer / Stug. units members. These latter ones usually (and proudly) wear a black (or Feldgrau for Stug) wrapper whose one of main features was to get no Pocket at all.
It is frequent to see crude RK added to posthumous recipients, made either by relatives or even by collectors to pinpoint the fact the depicted soldier was still a coveted and acknowleged RKT.
I have even in my own collection a prewar postcard of Kesselring to which a 'paper'' RK has been glued on to reflect his new award (likely made by a young boys during watime even if I'll have never any certainty).
So adding these RK was frequent; most of time this was made by drawing / painting directly onto the photo (seems to be the case of Voigt here) or by gluing a printed KC from a newspaper.
Thanks to better pics posted by Malvinas (gracias !) I almost sure the sleeve badge on the right is the one attributed to the 23. Pz. Div.
As for the RK of the young Panzer Oblt., it is very hard to say whether it is an addition to the original picture of if it was really wore by the soldier when the photo was taken: my only doubt is that the RK seems a little bit oversized compared to the picture.
It may Worth leaving a post in the cross section of the WAF forum to get opinion from Iron Cross knowledgeable members such as Dietrich Maerz.

Thanks for doing the cleansing!
Bravo for fidning several long searched soldiers (eg Jungkunst or Beck) or correcting old mistakes such as Grossmann
The only correction I would do to your IDs is that the officer with Gen.Major Utz on page 195 is not Franz Weller but Obstlt. Franz Klausgraber (I have another better pic of the same reportage)
