Possibly still living

Glad you brought that up- I never thought to check. A visit to http://www.das-ritterkreuz.de gives only a date of birth, and as they update with Todesdaten quite regularly, it appears he may indeed still be living. Born in Kiel on 1 August 1913, he would have just celebrated his 90th birthday.

Best wishes,

Michael,

First, let me congratule you for your great site. :D You have been doing a great job!

On the other hand, some other Luftwaffe aces passed away in the last months such as:

Gerhard Schöpfel (RK - 45 victories - JG 26), died on 15.05.2003, at age of 91.

Walter Ohlrogge (RK - 77 victories - JG 3 et al.), died on 30.04.2003, at age of 94.

Günther Schack (EL - 174 victories - JG 51 & JG 3), died on 14.06.2003, at age of 85.

Wolf-Dietrich Huy (EL - 40 victories - JG 77) died on 13.07.2003, at age of 85.

Hansgoerg Bätcher (EL - KG 4), died on 23.04.2003, at age of 89.

Sad but true. :(

Wishes,

Douglas.

Hi AHLF,

As far as I know, Walter Schuck is alive and well, living in Germany. There are three aces with more than 200 victories alive today: Schuck (206 victories), Erich Rudorfer (224) and Gunther Rall (275).

Regards,

Douglas.

BTW: thanks for the Antrupp´s picture!

Mark this- I have photos of 99% of the Luftwaffe KC holders.
Naturally, Sattler is amongst them, though his photo kinda blurred.
Will scan it for ya.
