I'd like some document-based information about my grandfather since he has bad memory (81years old) and usually jokes rather than talks seriously.
Thing is I don't have time and no funds to travel around and visit archives myself...
I was wondering if anyone for whom this isn't too much trouble could find some information for me. I can give you name, year of birth (1922. ), possible unit-names (20.Waffen-SS Div., Estniche 1., some artillery formation I think) and few other facts. He also got military pension of German army. He was in trainingcamp(s) in Europe (Czechoslovakia/Poland) if I recall correctly. Lived in SU after war until empire collapsed.
I'd like to know any information which can be get of him during 1941-45 (ranks, units, awards etc).
Now could anyone find anything based on these things? Name is Alfred Kikkas.
One thing I know - searching via pension fond woun't work probably, right?
