Lt. d. R. Gerhard Stein, DKiG, 30. ID

#2716

Post by copiloto » 20 Jan 2013, 22:38

Good afternoon.
I miss next winner of the DKiG in the 30. Infanterie-Division:
Stein, Gerhard; 13-12-1942; Leutnant d.R.; Inf.Rgt. 26

Source: http://www.ww2awards.com/person/19039

Although WW2awards shows that he won the DKiG in the Inf.Rgt. 26 in fact this regiment changed to Füsilier-Regiment 26 and not into a Grenadier Regiment.

Gentlemen,

From ww2awards.com. Hans-Joachim Ernst was awarded the German Cross In Gold on April 15,1945 as Kaptlt. of U-1022. I don't think you have that on the U-boat men who won the German Cross In Gold.

Sincerely,

Edward L. Hsiao

That would seem unwise.

Schlack, Johann, 08.06.1944, Oberleutnant d.R., 13./Geb.Jäg.Rgt. 143
[GJR 143 per a document of 20. Geb.Armee ; all major secondary sources state GJR 141]
The document from AOK 20 giving Schlack's unit as GJR 143 is a typo, here is the announcement of his award by the IIa of 6 Geb.Div. and the summary of his award from the files of AOK 20.

I'd like to put forward Obergefreiter Hans Kaswurm 1./GJR 141, 6 Geb.Div. DKiG 5.5.45, for inclusion to the lists

His VB is pictured in Biblio verlags 'die ritterkreuzträger, teil VI, Bd.2' along with his other award documents. The award document is consistent with award documents being issued by AOK 20 post-8th May '45. but no later than mid june when the stamp had it's wreath and swastika removed.

The second piece of evidence comes from 2 folders with various papers dealing with holders of the DKiG and S within AOK Norwegen and AOK 20, these folders are missing about half of their contents though and for Kaswurm all there is is his details on the index sheet for the letter K.

These folders are held by the Norwegian national archives, reference RA/RAFA-5816/H/L0003/0007 and RA/RAFA-5816/H/L0004/0001

Hans Ehn, SS-Div. “Reich”

#2723

Post by copiloto » 29 Aug 2013, 19:34

Good afternoon.
I found that Hans Ehn won the EBS in the SS-Art.Rgt.
So, it should be one open question down.

Good afternoon.
RE: 98. Infanterie-Division [page 11] and research section [page 80]

EBS ; same or different person ?
Sessner, Hermann, 19.11.1942, Oberleutnant, 2./Inf.Rgt. 282
Sessner, Otto, 19.11.1942, Oberleutnant, I./Inf.Rgt. 282
[Sessner, both, listed per Scheibert ; possibly the same man, but could be also two persons, brothers e.g.]

They are different persons, they both are shown in the Ehrenblatt des Deutschen Heeres with date 19-11-1942.
This is what it's written:
Oberleutnant Hermann Sessner (deceased)
Kompanie-Führer in einem Inf.Rgt. und sein zwillingbruder
Oberleutnant Otto Sessner (deceased)
Adjudant im gleichen Inf.Rgt.

So, they were twins and were in the same Regiment.

Best regards.

Good afternoon.

Research points / open questions
11) Dietschke, Gerhard, 18.03.1942, Leutnant, Beobachtungs-Batterie 336
EBS holder ; should be "Beobachtungs-Batterie (Pz.) ; which Pz.Div ?

I have found that Panzer-Beobachtungs-Batterie 336 was Heerestruppen in the XXIV. Armeekorps (mot.)

Hello Shawn,

I just saw your post from quite a while back, which came up while doing research on my grandfather, whose name is among those listed below in your post. It is the first time ever that I have seen his name anywhere with regard to his WWII military time, which I have been researching for some time now.

I am wondering if you could possibly elaborate on the source documents, and what they are. What is Scheibert & Dörr? Are there more documents? Any photos?

Basically I'm looking for any additional information that may be available. Where did you retrieve their names, and did those documents include any additional information about the award recipients themselves?

If so, I would be most grateful to find out about it, or ideally, be able to look at it. I do speak German, and can also read some of the old German (the printed old German is easier to read than the written old German, which everyone did differently it seems).

Thanks so much, very much look forward to hearing from you.
