How could it not be the same guy? But could anyone tell me what König did between 8.44 and 12.44? Even the badges were in the same place, except the Trieste pic seemed to show a silver wound badge and not as definitely so in my pic.

Cheers
Freiherr

I don't think König had a German Cross in Gold, at least per Scheibert.

I do not know why "Globus" does not wear the KVK I m. Schw. to which he was entitled at this time (having been awarded it on 21.04.1942), but it is him.

Thanks Mike why did I not pick up on the Italians in the pic !!!!!

Ok, I am trying No5 again. How about GenLt Harry Hoppe?

DKiG, RK 12.09.41. EL 18.12.44. Commanded 278 Inf Div in Italy from Dec 43 on. I had 278 Div under Traugott Herr's 76 Corp. But very close to Kübler's 97 Corp.

And look at his uniform at http://www.specialcamp11.fsnet.co.uk/Ge ... 0HOPPE.htm !!

cheers
Freiherr

Don’ t worry, dear Phil.
Trusting in the statement for Kiel I was disappointed too, just wondering how such a big ship as the “Rex” (51.062 BRT) could reach the harbour of Kiel coming from the Mediterranean Sea without being destroyed on the way by the Royal Navy.

Probably these are photos from 1944 parade, because I have (seen) parade's photos from 30.1.1945 and the parade is in the city, not in harbour.

Does anyone has any "real", solid date to share?

Regards,
Klemen

Picture two No 2 the KC StandartenführerI have been through Jan 1944 DAL and the only one to fit the criteria is Walter Bestmann. Pic attached I know it is not exact but people in photos never are and I think it is close enough

A very good call, Phil. That's Bestmann, no doubt about it.

Thanks for solving a mystery that had me grinding my teeth for two days.

"better scans of" Globocnik, Rainer, Kubler

Dear "General":

I've been researching Globocnik, Rainer, etc. for many years, writing an original movie screenplay based on Glob's life 1904-1945. You might have seen several pictures I've posted on Axis, on October 17, 2004:
http://forum.axishistory.com/viewtopic. ... c&start=15

I would appreciate any sharper version of this same picture you posted of that group, which I'm almost certain is in Trieste ca. 1943. I'd sent a copy of the picture to a friend of mine, Professor Maurice Williams, who is currently in Slovenia, working on the final version of an about-to-be-published (German-language), biographical history of Friedrich Rainer. Maury replied:
"Erwin, where did you get that picture? Could I use it in the English language edition?"

So, if you can provide a better picture and a source of permission to publish it, that would be a great contribution to further the cause of our mutual intellectual persuits.

I'd also appreciate your email reply to me directly at:

Best wishes,

Erwin H. Lerner

Harbour Ceremony

I have looked at Yergers book and it looks like von Malsen-Ponickau because of
the long straight mouth similar to the SS Bdf,like Mike said.
Also no10 the SS officer looks like he is wearing glasses ,well SS Stubf Ernst Lerch
wore glasses and always accompanied "Globus",and the decorations are compatible
The other SS officers could be Hermann Hofle,Georg Michaelsen,or Christian Wirth?
Kind Regards Harmel.

No. 4 is von Malsen-Ponickau, but I don't think no. 10 is Lerch. I don't see Wirth, Michalsen or Höfle.
