Hey,

can anyone help me with further information concerning Oberst Dr.-Ing. Albrecht Czimatis!

Here is that what I know:

1939-40 Kdr. AR 150
later Kdr. AR 83
DKiG: July 7 1942
In Stalingrad he was ordered to lead the 305. Infanterie-Division!

Does anybody have more information and a better pic as the attached!?

Regards and Thanks

Hannes

PS: What is maybe written about him in the unit history of 100. Jaeger-Division:
Mit Tanne und Eichenlaub. Kriegschronik der 100. Jäger-Division, vormals 100. leichte infanterie Division
Hanns Neidhardt, Stocker-Verlag, 1981

Hannes,

Oberst Albrecht Czimatis was originally a Prussian artillery officer, commissioned into the Altmärkisches Feldartillerie-Regiment Nr. 40 on the 24th of March 1915. He remained in the Reichsheer between the wars serving mainly with the 4. Artillerie-Regiment. He was given a Reichsheer Patent as a Leutnant with seniority from the 1.9.1915 (320) and was serving as the Adjutant of I./A.R. 4 in 1923. Promoted to Oberleutnant on the 1.4.1925 (273) and to Hauptmann on the 1.8.1931 (2) he was commanding 2./A.R. 4 from at least 1931 - 1934. By 1932 he is shown as a Doctor of Engineering. Promoted to Major on the 1.12.1935 (64b) he is shown in January 1939 as at "the disposal of the Reich Ministry of Economics". He was awarded both classes of the Iron Cross and the Knight's Cross of the Baden Order of the Zähringer Löwen. Presumably still alive in 1944 as he is listed in the 1944 Dienstaltersliste.

Thanks to jmark!!!

Some more very good information...

I heard further that he was member of the Nationalkomitee Freies Deutschlan in captivity!

Hand that his promotion to GenMaj. was anticipated by some statements about the German war situation...

If anyone is interested in a better pic of Czimatis:

Source: Mit Tanne und Eichenlaub. Kriegschronik der 100. Jäger-Division (there are three pics to find about him)

On January 5th 1943 he became leader of the 305. ID in Stalingrad and on January 6th 1943 he got the last troops of the 79. ID additionally to this command!
