It is terrible to see these hero's from the past leave us. Especially when no one gets the chance to interview and get their story.
Maybe a member could answer the following?
Ernst Tiburzy was only 34 when received RK, I suppose he was not currently serving due to the eye injury, but volunteered for the VS. He must have had previous service looking at his other awards and medal ribbons and the fact that he was made a Battalions Führer in the VS. So what was his previous service?
Also the fur lined M43 cap he wears in the postcard/photo of him carries a Diplomatic Service style eagle???? But the film ex 22/03/45 WochenSchau his M43 looks like a Heer(?) eagle, the scene is so short!
So when was he in the Diplomatic Service.
Thanks
Rob

He was a brave defender of the Festung Königsberg, along with my grandfather.

Hello friends ! I`m a new member on this forum.

My name is Michael, I`m from Russia, Kaliningrad city. Before 1945- Konigsberg, Ostpreussen.

I reanimated this theme.

I`m very interested about East Prussia volkssturm battalions. Here is Konigsberg address of Ernst Tiburzy :
https://www.forum-der-wehrmacht.de/inde ... olkssturm/

This house is alive today ! Bruno Schaffrinski strasse now called Autoremontnaja. Here is foto of Ernst Tiburzy house, where he lived from 1942 until 1945(Konigsberg, Bruno Schaffrinski strasse 15), but I don`t know flat number.

I try to find information about Ernst Tiburzy afterv 1945, but no information - his destiny, familie, etc. Maybee you know ?

Hi Michael,

Welcome to the forum, and thanks for posting that interesting photo. I am very interested in the surviving German architecture of the city. How is the reconstruction of the Dom proceeding?
