Ok, someone posted this guys picture on another site, the background he had was shady, it belonged to a Luftwaffe Feld Division Photo Album & he states he think it was taken along the Baltic Coast.

I swear I think I've seen this man's face before...HELP!

Oh Gareth, I fear this is a hard-boiled egg!

The pic shows a general (two stars) without German Cross or KC.
There were no commanders of any Luftwaffen-Felddivision or Feld-Division (L) who reached this rank!!

Otherwise there were on the Baltic sea the
9. Division / Oranienbaum (under L. Korps)
10. Division / Leningrad-Oranienbaum (under L. Korps)
12. Division / Kurland-Danzig (under L., I., X., XXIII. Korps)
21. Division / Latvia-Kurland (under XXXVIII. - Grasser / Kleffel, XVI., XXXXIII. Korps)

I found no "Kommandierender General" without German Cross or KC in this list.
I' m helpless too.

Dieter

I know....
but don't get totally hung up on Latvia these 3 albums are basical;ly taken by a LFD member throuhout the war so it could be anywhere but it also has to be a unit that was at Latvia at 1 stage.

It's possible that the DKiG just isn't visible on the photo.

Best regards/ Daniel

Schmitz/Thies' "die Truppenkenzeichen 1939-1945" Vol III does have the following:

Leichte Flak-Abt 75 having served in Leningrad, Oranienbaum and Kurland. However, I have no other information to link the abteilung to higher formations or maybe it could be a HrGr unit. It does suggest this was taken in the Baltic though.

I would love to know who Gen. Hard-boiled Egg was!!

Any chance anyone has pics of:
GenMj Ernst Michael of 9 LF div or
GenMj Hermann von Wedel of 10 LF Div?

Cheers
Freiherr

Hi!

This is a list of the full General's who never received neither the RK, DKiG, DKiS or PlM:

Becker
Beyer E.
Boetticher
Brandt Georg
Buhle
Cochenhausen
Dostler
Eberth
Eimannsberger
Epp
Erfurth
Fellgiebel
Fessmann
Fleck
Gercke H
Gercke R
Gossler
Grimme
Jacob
Karmann
Kaupisch
Knochenhauer
Köstring
Kress von Kressenstein Franz
Liebmann
Liese
Lüdke
Lutz
Müller E.
Nagy
Niebelschütz
Pogrell
Rabenau
Reinecke
Reinhard Wilhelm
Roese
Röttiger
Schmundt
Schwandner
Streccius
Stülpnagel O.
Thomas
Toussaint
Ulex
Viebahn
Vogl
Wäger A.
Wagner
Warlimont

Obviously many of them can be ruled out since we have good pics available of them. I have not done this, because I wanted the full list to be available.

Daniel mentions that perhaps the DKiG just isn't visible, but looking at other pics, it is always positioned on the breast pocket, so it would seem unlikely.

Another possibility of course, is that the General was awarded one of the medals (apart from the PlM) after his promotion to full General. I'm still working on that one and will get back to you. As Gareth says, the face seems familiar, but I'm damned if I can currently put a name to it!

Regards,

VJK
