Göring in Sweden?

#1

Post by stefaan » 16 Dec 2004, 14:05

Hi all,

Can someone tell me if Hermann Göring ever visited Sweden during the war?
if so when?
How about any of the other top nazi leaders?

Thanks,
Stefaan

Maybe, maybe not. I cant say for certain. He did have relative in Sweden though, Count Carl Gustav von Rosen. Son of the explorer Erik von Rosen and nephew of Karin Göring, wife of Hermann Göring.

He fought as an valunteer in Winter War with Swedish Voluntary Air Force.

No, I don't belive he did. But a friend of mine's grandmother talked to Göring on the phone. She was the nurse taking care of Görings wife whos was at a swedish hospital. She got a ring and a painting from Göring.

Yes Uninen we are talking about same Göring Reichsmarschal of the Third Reich of Germany. He was a good friend of Marschal Mannerheim who visited him in 1935 regarding aeroplanes. Mannerheim also took a trip to England and decided to buy the planes from England.
First finnish aeroplanes of the air force were from Russia. Niuport biplanes brought to Finland by escaped "white" pilots fleeing communist "red" threat. I still dunno why the Thulin donated by count von Rosen is named as first FAF aeroplane ? Is there a mistake of some sort here ? Possibly the chosen swastika enblem for national insignia has something to do with it ?

I asked of the Von Rosen, of which Christian mentioned about..

And of the another matter.. 6.3.1918 is when Rosens Thulin TYP D was donated to us, and the Niuports which you mention well the type 11 was taken over "during Tampere's occupation" and the type 23's in 11.4.1918 when defecting Russian officers used them to escape to Finland..

Göring had lots of Sweedish contacts including businessman Birger Dahlerus. It is not inconceivable that Göring travelled to Sweeden incognito. Hitler was aware of Göring's peace feelers through Sweeden in 1939 and even encouraged Göring at that time.

The Sweedish vacumn cleaner industrialist whose name I forget, had dealings with the Duke and Duchess of Windsor during their exile years on behalf of Göring

I believe he escaped to Sweden after the failure of the Munioch Putsch of Nov 1923

I seem to recall Göring being mentioned visiting a town in the north of Sweden during the war.

Best regards/ Daniel
