Obst. Heinrich Artur Wiedemann !!!???

Hi gentlemen!

I don´t know if one of you has recognized this pic of a http://www.wehrmacht-awards.com thread:

http://www.wehrmacht-awards.com/forums/ ... 7306&stc=1
at
http://www.wehrmacht-awards.com/forums/ ... ge=4&pp=15

The pic, posted on 25.11.2004, is allegedly showing Obst. Heinrich Artur Wiedemann (14.11.1896-23.07.1942). Wiedemann died too young to be promoted to Generals rank, as Cdr. Infanterieregiment (mot.) 11 (14. mot. ID). Before that he was the IIa of the XIV. (mot.) Armeekorps, missing in some sources like Mehner, Vol. I. In WWI he earned the highest award of the Kingdom of Sachsen, the Ritterkreuz of the Militär-Sankt Heinrichs-Orden, as well as the Iron Cross 1st and 2nd Class, the wound badge in black, and the Albrechts-Orden, Knight´s Cross 2nd class with swords (Kingdom of Sachsen).

Now my question: The pic is showing him with a Ritterkreuz. He is not listed in my Fellgiebel copy. The only explanation is ... that´s not him ... or it is a faked cross ... right? Can anybody deliver an explanation, please?

btw: Note that the Volksbund is delivering a wrong DoD (23.07.1943 instead of 23.07.1942), comparing with the entries at his grave:
Nachname: Wiedemann
Vorname: Heinrich Arthur
Dienstgrad: Oberst
Geburtsdatum: 14.11.1896
Geburtsort: Plauen
Todes-/Vermisstendatum: 23.07.1943
Todesort: Tereschkowo nö.Rshew

Hi Stauffenberg II,

The grave came from a series of 4 pics which clearly showed Major Alexander Leschke, Kdr. II/IR 11 and as JC pointed out, most likely Heinrich Wosch, the division commander. So it was overwhelmingly positive as far as the death date is concerned.

There was no RK drawn on his make-shift tombstone -- unless it was posthumous? So either the wehrmacht-awards.com pic was not him or it was a fake RK.

Cheers and Happy New Year

Frieherr

Wiedemann picture likely to be not Ob. Wiedemann, but perhaps Hptm. Wolfgang Wiedemann (who was also killed on the Russian front in 1943). Just a suggestion...

Cheers,

Hans

Yes, I came to the same "conclusion". But Wolfgang Wiedemann was listed as a Hptm of PzAA125? What is PzAA125?

Hi Harmel,

You are referring to the third officer from left with glasses. The only picture of Rust I have seen is the one from das-ritterkreuz.com. Rust won his RK in 44 and looked a tad younger in the pic than the offcer in the funeral. As to Bertheau, do you have a pic or you are just looking at his aiguillettes?

hi stauffenberg11 and freiheer sorry i did not answer sooner have been in hospital i did know that rust won his awards later and he looks youngert but i thought it would be worth the mention. also ref berthau it was the aiguilletes as he was 11a from dec1941 to sept 1942. he is not mentioned as a later gso or in the rangeliste 1944-45 no dkig or knights cross. cheers harmel.
