Westhofen was also an early recipient of the Deutsches Kreuz, having been awarded it on 18.10.1941 as an Oberleutnant and Chef 3./Schtz.Rgt. 73. He probably(maybe) received the DKiG for his action(s) earlier in the summer that rendered him an Anerkennungsurkunde des Oberbefehlshabers des Heeres on 18.07.1941.
