Hi this is Oberst Heinrich Franz Roeckl
Knights Cross 8/9/41 as a Major.
Does anyone know his NSSKK rank and significance of plate

I think your image comes from a self-published book entitled- if memory serves (I have it at home) "Das Kreuz"... contains hundreds of autographed Ritterkreuzträger photos. Liberally sprinkled among the photos are thousands of little images of German military, political, and civil awards, badges, flags, gorgets, etc. (basically being used as wallpaper, but I find them superfluous and annoying- although the book is cool). Apparently they got a little overzealous and dumped an NSKK gorget on this officer's picture (i.e.- it's not a part of the original photo).

Mike you are correct it is Das Kreuz,it is a great book but thanks for the extra info about the photo. Did they publish another book on this subject?.

Oberst der Reserve Dr Heinrich Franz Roeckl 1867 - 1950 was an industrial.
after study he join on 1917 the family factory "Leder und Handschuh Roeckl".
He later became Direktor of the factory.
Wehrwirtschaftsführer.

Hm, I found in the (seems wartime) history of the 402er that Roeckl returned on 22.4.42 to take over command after Hptm. Ortler seems to be his Vertretung for 6 Month...
