Rommel data set updated

Several references say "Mid 1942" for the date - possibly based on the pic below when he was promoted to Generalfeldmarschall already (after Tobruk). Open to correction as always.

Listed also (date, presentation) per http://www.mymilitaria.com/Liste_02/rommel2doc.htm#eng
and the nice "must have" photo with the Grand Cross + Medaglia d'Argento from there

post splitted off from another thread and merged with this one. It is the ceremony for the Grand Cross of the Military Order of Savoya. Alif, I have deleted the first pic. It is the same like the one above. (and it had a kind of watermark-text "...goldenes Eichenlaub... which is wrong). Thanks for this nice find ! / Bernd, Mod
Rommel being awarded a High Award from Italian General Bastico...

Do you know if Himmler, Heydrich and Dietrich were awarded with this italian decoration?

Thanks.

Thanks Dieter.

Do you think that Himmler and Heydrich deserved the highest italian military award? They weren't real soldiers (well, Heydrich was in the Marine and fought with the Luftwaffe at the begining of the War), why were the awarded with this exclusive and prestigious award?

Once upon a time Generalfeldmarschall Colmar Freiherr von der Goltz Pascha said:
There are four sorts of awards .....

"Es gibt vier Sorten von Orden,
verdiente und erdiente,
erdienerte und erdinierte !"

verdient = deserved
erdient = acquired by serving
erdienert = above they bow as a flunky
erdiniert = chiselled by dining
