A long shot, but wonder if anyone could provide names of any Heer (1935 - '45) officers who might be a match for the following: K. Schwarz (engraved on an Army officer's dagger at a war museum).
A check of http://www.das-ritterkreuz.de indicates no K. Schwarz received the Ritterkreuz, so that rules out a few thousand people.
