According to http://www.das-ritterkreuz.de Hans-Ulrich von Luck und Witten died on August 1, 1997.

Not the wrong section at all, actually - you've posted to the right place. This forum concentrates on personalities of the Wehrmacht, of which von Luck was a distinguished representative.

Last reference I can find for Knappe is living in Cleveland OH in January 2004, though he is not one of the 4 Knappes I can find listed in phone directories for the city.
