Found on the net as IIa of W.Krs. IX looks to me as him, a future GL in the HPA and KC holder?

Hi harmel,

Are you referring to the offcer on the left?

Feldgrau's thumbnail matches Scherzer's. Kind of too skinny to fit the fellow here?

Cheers

Hi Elwyn,
great minds think alike, I noticed that but his facial features look similar and he is photographed coming out of G der Inf Schniewindt staff car and desribed as Adj, which he was as an Obstlt. I know it is usually a Hptm or Major, that is an IIa, but I have never seen a full photo of him wearing his KC so we can compare. Iif not him it could be the following-C-O-S Emil Markgraf later General (no photo), C-O-S Ludwig von Nida, later GM, no photo had also been Ia.
Kind Regards Harmel :D

Stumped!! Nida and Markgraf are two very un-decortaed generals!!

Could it be Schniewindt on the right? Any other photos?

Cheers

I never saw a pic of Maisel in uniform. I only know a pic in civilian clothes with his face obviously disfigured by burning-scars.
Maisel and Burgdorf were the two generals of the HPA who were commissioned to bring the cyanid-capsule to Rommel in his home in Herrlingen.

Attached a pic of Schniewindt

Hi Dieter!

Thank you for posting such a good portrait of Schniewindt. Here is a pic of Maisel in uniform.

Best regards,

Apparently Gen. Meise was mistaken for Maisel after the war, and had difficulties due to the similarity of the names and Maisel's role in the death of Rommel.
