I'm looking for any additional informations on
Major Thomsen, Edgar
who was
CO of the Kosaken-Regiment Platow.

The forming or this regiment was the idea of the CoS/17. Army, GenMjr Vincenz Müller (= Police Müller of the former GDR) on 5th May 1942.
The real forming order of the 17. Army was from the 13th June 1942.
The OoB of the Kosaken-Regiment Platow was:
-> Rgt Staff & HQ
---> 1 x Staff & HQ coy
-----> 1 x MG platoon
-----> 1 x Signal platoon
---> 5 x mounted squadrons
---> 1 x heavy squadron
---> 1 x artillery squadron (sic!)
---> 1 x replacement squadron

The TO/E of the Kosaken-Regiment Platow was:
70 MG
1 Grenade launcher
4 artillery pieces

For the different squadrons I have following eastern higher ranking soldiers:
1./: Korostin; Demidjukow; Knorr.
2./: Dawidenko; Agaew; Galachowskij.
3./: Malakaew; Ščuplijak.
4./: Balašow; Medijancew.
5.: Rybalko; Markow.
Art./ & Repl.: Šampolow; Žurow; Siwakozo.
Of them in the Red Army were:
1 Major
1 Captain
8 First Lieutenant/Second Lieutenant
3 Sergeants
2 Soldiers.

From Larry D:
Last mentioned on 23 May 1943 when it was released by 17. Armee for movement to Crimea and on to Mielau/Poland - strength this date: 114 Germans and 818 Cossacks. On arrival at Mielau (according to Tessin) it was to become 2. Kosaken-Reiter-Rgt., but this did not occur; instead, it became the leichte Kosaken-(Plastun) Abt. 2 with effect from 17 June 1943.

As he, was in the beginning of the Cossaks fighting with the German (May/June 1942), a CO/Cossack-Regiment, I miss him later (July/August 1943) with the 1. Cossack Division of von Pannwitz.

Who has any informations about the fate of Mjr Thomsen, Edgar.
