Photo of the last Army General, Dietrich Beelitz?
Has anyone seen a photo of the last named General of Army, Generalmajor Dietrich Beelitz (20.4.1945), in his General's uniform? Thanks in advance...Best, John

BTW: I think there is no pic existing with him in the uniform of a Generalmajor with effect of 20.04.45

By the way I think these officers had other problems in the huddle of the last days before the surrender than the procurement of new shoulder boards and collar patches.
Also there was surely no accoutering-department next door with the fitting collection.
Board and lodgings, ammo and wheelers had the absolute priority to pull round, nothing else.
Sometimes I think you can' t imagine the reality in April / May 1945

As it seems, Beelitz was either never promoted to GM, or his promotion was ordered by Herr and Vietinghoff and thus invalid. As Jürgen pointed out some time ago, he even called himself an Oberst a.D. when he was writing for FMS after the war.
There are times in history when staying neutral means taking sides.
