Could you be a bit more precise with your question? According to Google and my Atlas it seems that a place called "San Giorgio in Bagno" doesn't exist in Italy further on I never came across a unit called Bandenkampf-Batallion in Italy.

This is all what I got, from the pic I got looks like Polizei Regiment.
San Giorgio in Bagno is Emilia Romagna, Central Italy.
Seems like he was the chief for bandenkampfers against the Bandits Group of "Pippo".
Nothing more.

I think you are speaking of
Wolfgang Lehnigk-Emden, from Ochtendung near Koblenz !!
Please start a google-search and you will find a lot of information.
The name "Lehnigk-Emden" was misinterpreted for a long time as "Lehmann" in the US-inquiries !

On the pic back, original typewritten, I can just see "Oberleutnant Lehmann".

IV. Polizei-Freiwilligen-Bataillon Italien had an Oberleutnant Lehmann as Adjutant who also acted as CO sometimes in the Summer of 1944. The batallion was definitely involved in antipartisan warfare but I don't think it had anything to do with the Pippo group. I still insist, I never came across an unit officially called Bandenkampf-Btl. in Italy. Maybe it could help if you would post the picture.

The village is San Piero in Bagno and at the beginning of July 44 attack this partisan group with a raking called the Lamone. If there are photos you can see. thank you
