The correct designation was Pz.Jg.Kp. 1551 (since 6.10.1944). Originally it was formed as Stu.Gesch.Abt. 1551 (10 StuG III) for the 551. (Volks-)Gren.Div. and sent to the Eastern Front with its parent division in late August 1944. In late Oct 1944 it was pulled out of the front line for refit but it took until late January 1945 before it finally received 14 new Jagdpz. 38. Instead of being send back to its own division on 29.1.1944 Pz.Jg.Kp. 1551 was assigned to Pz.Gren.Div. 'Kurmark'. It fought under this division until the end.
