italian tank in the Florian Geyer

italian tank in the Florian Geyer

During the Battle of Budapest, i have seen some photos with italian tank M15/42, assigned to Panzer jäger Abteilung of 8.SS-Kav.Div. 'florian Geyer'. Someone have major info about this. When this italian tank have assigned to division and in what unit? Thanks to all in advance.

The German used the M15/42 tank under the designation Panzerkampfwagen M15/42 738(i). The 3. Kompanie of the SS-Panzerjägerabteilung 8 was equipped with 14 of these tanks...while the 1. and 2. Kompanie were armed with 28 Jagdpanzer 38(t) Hetzer tank destroyers.

My new info, is that the italian tank are part of a Panzer Polizei Kompanie, integrated in the 22.SS. Meanwhile, in a russian book, i have find this page. Is a fake?

Yes, the unit designation is incorrect. The Italian M 15/42 found in Budapest belonged to the verstaerkte Polizei-Pz.Kp. 12, an independent light tank unit, not an organic part of any SS division. Since September 1944 the SS-Pz.Jg.Abt. 8 consisted of the 1.(mot.Z.) Kp., 2. and 3.(Jagdpz. 38) Kp.
