Steiner with his kitten

Postby PiretBCN on 03 Jul 2012 22:21

[Split from "Waffen-SS interesting photos"]

Hello!

I would like to get more information about this photo. All I know that it's Steiner with his kitten.
1. Who are the other guys?
2. Where was the photo taken?
3. What was the kitten's name?

Thank you!

And I would like to know the source of "your" image, PiretBCN. Guess you didn´t read the forum guidelines?

I did not read the forum guidelines. I hope I won't be shot for this.
The source of this image is google. I first saw it in Untergangers' wiki, I think. Or maybe in a Hitler parody.

Well, one of them was 1st and the other 2nd.

Does anyone have any info about this photo? I would love to know more about that cat...and those men.

The cat's name was Nina. I hope she wasn't an undesirable sort of cat, or wound up as rations. Some people thought cats looked a lot better with a couple of potatoes, a carrot and an onion stacked around them.

Wow! Thank you so much! How do you know the cat's name? I often like to joke that the cat was Estonian because the guys look really really Estonian to me. Do you know their names?

'Nina' means nose in Estonian. Was the cat called 'nose' because it was so tiny? :))

You may find additional pictures of Sepp Dietrich with kittens and a puppy on my website http://www.instahlgewittern.com.

Best wishes.

All three are Estonians on Narva front, June 1944. I really doubt that the man in the middle is named Steiner...
And there were no reasons to eat cats, there was regular organized feeding in Estonian units ;)

I guess it is Estonian, this is NOT the forum language. Your translation is appreciated.

I just thanked him for the beautiful photos. I didn't post anything. I hope I won't be shot, guillotined or sent breaking granite for the Autobahn with my teeth for saying thank you in another language.
Should I translate 'Autobahn'? :)

You are lucky!
Nowadays we don´t offer sunbathing on labour work in stone quarries, body shortening with the help of falling blades nor free deployments of firing squads.
There is also no need to build new highways in this country, they are well built and leading in all directions, thank you
