German grid reference method

Hi All,

reading german and italian war diaries on Egypt operations i found this system used to designate points on map:

- 915 right 18
- 922 right 6
- 537 left 10

thanks in advance for any help.

The enemy had superiority in numbers, his tanks were more heavily armoured, they had larger calibre guns with nearly twice the effective range of ours, and their telescopes were superior. 5 RTR 19/11/41

It is an interesting solution. So, without the key, it is impossible undestand positions on war diary pages.

Correct. But you sometimes find the key in war diaries as well. But then you still need the correct map. So basically it is highly improbable that it can be reconstructed.
