What unit is this?

#1

I am quite puzzled by this photo...

It shows some radio-unit, but it features several asian-looking soldiers in German uniforms. Are these Japanese or some volunteer WH unit from Asia?
Any help will be appreciated!

Hi,
Quiete surely men from Turkistan. As they are wearing good uniforms, I suppose from the 162nd Division

Thanks Arto!

Was the division composed only of soldiers from Turkistan? Because the rest of them look European...

Thanks,

Interesting to see the Feldwebel on the front row, next to the leutnant, is wearing a M36 Feldbluse officer style. Also of note is the colour of his M36, it's either very faded or a lighter colour altogether.

Any idea when this picture was taken? Judging from the diffent awards (among them a Verwundetenabzeichen and what seems to be a ribbon KvK) and the different uniforms (M36 and M42 Feldbluse) it should be summer of 1942 or later.

Hello,

My guess that These are "normal" Hiwis as they were incorporated into every unit mid war on. They are too few to be a "foreign" unit.
