Höherer Artillerie-Kommandeur 302 (HArko 302)
Hello, I am new to this forum, so I am assuming this is the forum for unit research?
I am seeking information on the Höherer Artillerie-Kommandeur 302 (HArko 302). Specifically, where did it end up after December 1944..? At that point in the war, it was attached as a part of the 4th Army in Eastern Prussia, near the Baltic, possibly trying to help break the siege of Konigsberg from the West near the Vistula lagoon. My assumption is that they were captured and/or disbanded. Information I have on one officer: (Hauptmann) Erik Hornemann (EK I.) served in this unit (as a Stab officer) until he was captured. I don't know when, where or by whom he was made a prisoner, but according to the German WASt (translated acronym: Department for the Notification of the Next of Kin), he was released to his wife in Lübeck, Germany on July 31st, 1945 by "British Authorities." One last factoid is that the Harko 302 Commander at the end of the war, Herbert Wagner, was captured by the Russians and held for several years after the war ended. He is a pretty high profile figure, but nowhere does it say where and how HE was captured/surrendered either.
If anyone has any info on this unit, please share!

Christian,
Yes, I have gleaned as much as I can from that website, as well as all the other English language sites I could find. It is mentioned peripherally on some other unit-focused sites, but not much explicitly about where and when they fought. As a part of the AOK-4, I can make assumptions, but my major interest is what happened during the last 5 months of the war.
Best,
Ed

For Wagner, look here:

For me, the PoW dates suggest he was captured by the Western Allies. He isn't mentioned in Bezborodova. Maybe Dieter knows more?

HArko 302 and Generalleutnant Wagner are listed as HArko of 21. Armee in May 1945. This makes sense as AOK 21 was created from the staff of AOK 4 after it left Ostpreußen. And as a part of HGr Weichsel, AOK 21 surrendered to the Western Allies.

This is from a Stellenbesetzung created on 20 May 1945 by the OKW / HPA for the Allied authorities:

Hello Uwe
From which roll comes Your extract note ? By the way, Maj. "Hagmeister" is correct (Bearbeiter often made confusion and wrote datas and names wrongly).

P.S.: Hello Askropp, will You kindly reply to my PM ?? Thanks

It’s great to see my original post from 4 years ago has generated new information - this is great! My grandfather was the Hauptmann that I mentioned. I’m a step closer to understanding what happened to him at the end of the war. Thank you all!
