When did the division arrive at Cassino, december 1943 or january 1944 ?

44.I.D. (identified as "H.u.D.") is described in map "Dislokation Ob.Suedwest nach Lage Italien u. Balkan Stand 6.12.1943" in two portions, one portion in position at Cassino just north of 29.Pz.Gr.Div., and the second portion as in transit via rail from Rome.

44.I.D. is mentioned in an OKW-Kriegsschauplaetz Tagesmeldung of December 2, 1943 as being in "Antransport". And in another OKW-Kriegsschauplaetz Tagesmeldung dated December 4, 1943, "H.u.D." is described as being in action at Cassino as follows, "Bei Div. 'H.u.D.' wurden feindl. Stosstrupps in raschem Gegenstoss zurueckgeworfen."
