Based on the book "Storm Over The Steppe" by Hans Wijers
Page.50

6 Panzer-Division
Flanking Tank Attack against Vyerkhnye Kumskiy

By 16th December all minor damage to the tanks had been repaired and with that,
22 of the 30 tanks knocked out at Vyerkhnye Kumskiy were operational again.
The newly arrived 42 Sturmgeschuetze of Hauptmann Malachowski's battalion were a worthwhile reinforcement.
Furthermore the news came of the imminent arrival of 17 Panzer-Division which,
from the theater of operations north of the Don was rolling towards the battlefield south of Stalingrad without encountering any enemy.

-----
Hauptmann Wilhelm von Malachowski was the first commander of the StuG.Abt.228 a new unit formed in November 1942
assigned for North Africa but instead ends up in the Eastern Front.
