Abteilung "Landesverteidigung" in Oberkommando der Wehrmacht
Abteilung "Landesverteidigung" in Oberkommando der Wehrmacht
Hello!
Does anyone know who were the top members of this department in the armed forces command on July and August 1940?
I know yet the Oberst (then Generalmajor from August 1st, 1940) Walter Warlimont, and I'm pretty sure that there was the Oberstleutnant Bernhard von Lossberg too, but I'm curious to know the names of their close collaborators. Any clue?
Thanks!
Cheers

Re: Abteilung "Landesverteidigung" in Oberkommando der Wehrmacht
Abt. L: Warlimont (Walter)
Gru. I H: v. Loßberg (Bernhard)
I L: Frhr. v. Falkenstein (Sigismund)
I M: Junge (Wolf)
Gru. II (Org.): Münch (Wilhelm)
Gru. III (Sonderaufgaben): v. Tippelskirch (Werner), kdt.
Gru. IV: Prieß (Helmut)
There is some doubt re Gru. III though. Böhme (Gru. IV) left. I think Prieß (Gru. III) took over Gru. IV, whilst the Prieß Group was taken over by v. Tippelskirch.

Great! Thank you Stauffenberg II for this very valuable piece of information. I guess the "happy few" who were informed of Hitler's intention to attack the USSR as early as July 29th, 1940 were among these ones.
What did the Gruppe IV refer to?
Thanks again.

Thank you very much Santiago, that clears it up. So Gru. III was Prieß and Gru. IV v. Tippelskirch. I apologize for mixing up.
