Hello,

From La France pendant la Seconde Guerre mondiale, atlas historique (2010), the German military administration on March 15th, 1941 included the following units in the two northern French departments attached to Militärbefehlshaber Belgien und Nordfrankreich:
- Oberfeldkommandantur 670 in Lille, together with Feldkommandantur 678 and Kreiskommandantur 914;
- Kreiskommandanturen 534 (Cambrai), 635 (Béthune), 639 (Arras), 642 (Avesnes), 713 (Boulogne-sur-Mer), 714 (Dunkerque), 717 (Hazebrouck), 771 (Montreuil-sur-Mer), 772 (Saint-Omer), 849 (Valenciennes) and 915 (Roubaix);
Total: one Oberfeldkommandantur, one Feldkommandantur and twelve Kreiskommandanturen.

Using the same source, but on May 1st, 1944:
- Oberfeldkommandantur 670, together with Feldkommandantur 678, were still in Lille, but no more Kreiskommandantur deployed in this city;
- Kreiskommandanturen 635 (Béthune), 639 (Arras), 692 (Cambrai), 693 (Valenciennes), 713 (Montreuil-sur-Mer), 715 (Douai), 771 (Desvres) and 772 (Saint-Omer);
Total: one Oberfeldkommandantur, one Feldkommandantur and eight Kreiskommandanturen.

As a comparison, in November 1940, the Militärbefehlshaber Frankreich had authority over 47 Feldkommandanturen and 144 Kreiskommandanturen.

Hope this helps,
Regards from Berry!

PS: it's a pity to answer a Frenchmate's question in English! :) I strongly recommand you to buy this book, it's a real wonder!

On June 17th, 1944, the security units in the two departments of Nord and Pas-de-Calais were the following ones:
- one regimental staff: Sicherungs-Regimentsstab 35 (Lille);
- seven security battalions, respectively two territorial ones (Landesschützen-Bataillon 327 in Calais, Landesschützen-Bataillon 485 (Bahnschutz) in Lille, four security ones (Sicherungs-Bataillone 772 in Lens, 863 in Avesnes, 908 in Hazebrouck and 908 in Douai), and one infantry one filled-up with sick soldiers (Grenadier-Bataillon 1201 (Magenkranke) in Lille).

Cheers,

thanks for these infos.
therefore there is evidence that 3 FK were set up on 3.6.1940 in North of France.
1 FK at Arras (Pas de Calais) and 2 FK at Valenciennes and Lille.
(source : RW 36/202 BAMA Freiburg)
FK 569 (Lille) : Oberst zV then Gen.Major Friedrich Haselmayr 1.9.40 - 26.12.41
FK 678 (Arras) : Oberstlt Weyland (on 10/40)
FK 606 (Valenciennes).

Then OFK cover whole North France with one FK 678 and the network of KK you mentionned.

There is a book (in German) on the Miliärbefehlshaber Belgien und Nordfrankreich, I am quite sure. I think I have boxed away somewhere. I will have to check my records to see if I can find the title.

Hello Gentlmen
Anybody has the Kdr. of FK 606 ?
Was Weyland on 15.03.41 still Kdr. of FK 678 ?
Finally, who was on 01.05.44 Kdr. of FK 678 ?
I hope Your documents have (or somebody knows) the answers
Thanks, Rossano

Hello,

I think I found the ultimate website concerning the occupation in Belgium and in Northern France: http://users.telenet.be/Atlantikwall-15 ... efhBNF.htm

It is particularly well-documented for the second semester of 1940.

Hope this helps,
Cheers,
