SS Mot. Div. Hermann Göring

#1

Several Partisan documents/memories reference "SS mot. Div. Hermann Göring", operating in Nov. 1943 in Slovenia/Croatia (Istria). As we know, that such Div. hasn't existed, I'm guessing that this was a cover name for a unit operating in/along II. SS-Pz.Korps. But II. SS-Pz.Korps (and of subunits)'s cover names were:
- Gen.Kdo. II. SS-Pz.Korps was known as Ob.Kdo. 1. SS-Pz.Armee
- 44. ID as Gend.Kdo. XII. Pz.Korps
- SS-Rgt.Gr. LAH as SS-Pz.Gren.Div. “HJ”
- 24. Pz.Div as 18. Pz.Div.
- Rgt.Gr. 44. ID as 88. ID

Following these names a mystery SS-MD HG could be one of the Regiments, belonging to the Corps. Or on another hand this could be just a case of mistaken identity, involving a true Pz.Div. HG, which was operational in Italy.

Regards,
Klemen
