A short question, please: does anyone know whether the Leibstandarte staff crossed the Yugoslav border from the direction Kyustendil – Kriva Palanka, or Blagoevgrad – Carevo Selo?
Thanks very much in advance,
Ivan
Leibstandarte staff in Yugoslavia 1941
Re: Leibstandarte staff in Yugoslavia 1941
First one.
They crossed in Deve Bair / Djujesevo / Gjueshevo, then moved along Starčev Dol.
Some sources call it Kriva Pass or Starcin Pass, but I couldn't find those names on any map I looked...Unless the whole 10 km stretch of road from Deve Bair to Kriva Palanka is called a "Pass"?
Starcin is most likely misspelled Starčev.

Thank you, Greg. "Kriva pass" should probably mean "Kriva Palanka pass" (a border crossing leading to Kriva Palanka, that is, the Gyueshevo - Deve Bair crossing), but I don't think it was its official name. "Starcin" is probably Stracin misspelled (not a pass, but a village, located after Kriva Palanka https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stracin)
