I'm looking for info about Pionier-Kompanie 134 for January 1945. To which unit did they belong, who was in command, etc.

Thanks in advance for any input.

/Timo

Hello Timo

I was wondering (well, a guy on another forum helped with this) about this Company. Could it be that Pi.Kp. 134 was created with the remnants of Pi.Bat 134 which was disbanded in August 1944?

Hallo Starinov, thanks for keeping this thread alive :)

Unfortunately I have no clue if there's a connection between Pionier-Bataillon 134 and Pionier-Kompanie 134.

Regards,
Timo

BUMP!

All info about this Kompanie is welcome! Which Regiment/Division did it belong to. On the 16th of February 1945 it saw action near Labiau in East Prussia. Any info about the battle it was part of? Could there be a link with Bau-Pionier-Bataillon 134 which was assigned to 102. Infanterie-Division and last saw action in East Prussia in the Heiligenbeil Pocket before it surrendered to the Americans?

According to Soviet sources first units arrived in the outskirts of Labiau on the evening of 22nd of January. Town was taken on the 23rd and retaken on 24th after German counterattack.
So 16th of Feb was too late for any action and 16th of Jan too early.
Probably also any "Americans" were unlikely to be seen there...or anywhere in East Prussia. :D

My bad, 16th of January (not February). But note that I never said the Americans were there, just that 102. ID with assigned Bau-Pionier-Bataillon 134 fought in the Heiligenbeil Pocket before it surrendered to the Americans. The remains of the 102. ID managed to escape from the Pocket and fought in Vorpommern until they surrendered to the Americans on the 5th of May 1945.

Thanks for your clarification!
Which source puts unit in question near Labiau on the 16th of January 1945 and in what action it claimed unit was involved? Do we know?

An entry in the Volksbund database regarding a KIA member of this "Pionier-Kompanie 134".

This unit is mentioned several times in the "Tätigkeitsbericht der Armeepionierführer der 3.Panzerarmee von 1.7 bis 31.10.1944."
Unfortunately similar reports for January 1945 does not seem to survive the war...

One is clear - the was no Soviet ground forces near Labiau on the 16th of January 1945. Casualties on that day could be caused by Soviet air attacks.
