What is that? The SS counter to the Soviet antitank dogs? Strap a grenade to a kitten, and send him into Front HQ???

The collar patches are of the so called Tartu pattern. These were first presented to a regiment (47th, IIRC) of the 20th Division in February 1944 by the mayor of Tartu (Dorpat) Paul Keerdoja. This means that this picture was taken sometime after that. My guess would be spring 1944 in the Narva front.

Yes, the "E" leteer with the sword in the hand, and also, you can see an estonian flag on the sleeve. The color of the flag suppose to be blue-black-white.
