Just for the record, those pictures with the girls in traditional Ukrainian costumes are not especially rare or unique. I first saw them years ago in various books. I believe they are Bundesarchiv photos which were also held for a time (and copied) at the US National Archives. I know Frank DeLaglio did a lot of photo work on the LAH at the USNA, so that's probably where he got these.

Edited to note : I did a quick check on my close-by bookshelves, and the group shot, with the three women in costume, appears on page 156 of Wenn Alle Brüder Schweigen, first published in 1972. No offense to Frank, but these aren't incredibly rare photos.

Marc, as far as I know Frank got prints of the original negatives from the NARA. I guess he's got a lot more pics from this series as I have several which I have not seen anywere. Unfortunately Frank cannot be reached. Is he still in this hobby?

Frank's vanished off the face of the earth as far as anyone I know can tell. I used to have good exchanges with him, since after reading my Soldiers of the Waffen-SS book, he switched the focus of his research from the 12. SS-PD to the III. (germanisches) SS-PK (which I took as a nice tribute, that he would be influenced by my writing). Since he had all sorts of NARA files, he was soon in touch with some of my friends in Scandinavia, and they too have had no word of/from Frank in far too long. If anyone has any info on Frank DeLaglio's whereabouts (or fate, but I hope it hasn't come to that), please share, or let him know that folks still care about him!

I share your worries Marc. I checked my mailbox and last time he replied to my email was 11 MAR 2005, which is (far as I know) quite recent compared to others who tried to contact him. Unfortunately this happeneb before: before he returned to this forum he was untracable for almost a full year as well. I don't want to turn this thread into a big production but I think your feeling that people are worried and still care about him is mutual I hope all is well with him!

this is my favorite - the shade of helmet, medals, and posture are awesome - looks very stoic and proud
p.s. can anyone help me identify the unit of this soldier?

I'm looking for one particular W-SS photo that I recall seeing on AHF but could not find it today. It shows a Waffen-SS soldier in camo aiming his rifle directly at the camera. Can anyone help?

So time to find who this guy is, and where the photo actually has been taken, right?

This's one the WW2 photos i like. It shows some German soldiers on the Russian front. The face of the German soldier reflects the suffering of the Wehrmacht in Russia.

It's a really good picture, wael, I can agree with you.
Do you have any info about it?
The reason I ask is because I think I have seen a description of it somewhere that stated it was taken just outside Stalingrad.
I would really like to know if there is indeed any truth in that statement.

From my point of view this is quite an ordinary picture, nothing too special. The size is not to impressive either. I have the book " Der Zweite Weltkriég" There are some pics, you will be amazed. A pair of flamethrower pioneers, attacking in crete. In colour. I will scan it after the night
