Re: SS-Division "Prinz Eugen" photos
...hahaha, only now I've noticed that the NCO in the front row is chewing some animal's skeleton!

That is definitely the same man! But he is not Moreth (and I don't see Moreth anywhere in this photo). What's the source of this picture please, I haven't seen it before (thanks for posting!)
Ivan
it`s a own-picture taken at Bosnia without Date and without place and without names. Serving with the bottle is my father.

Re: SS-Division "Prinz Eugen" photos
Paul, photo is excellent. Do you have any info on the Prinz Eugen unit your father served in (battalion/regiment)? Any additional info (or a photo) might be helpful. The year is probably 1944.

Ivan, he was first at AA7 and later V.SS-Mountain-Korps/Stab. Why do you think, the year is 1944?? (Pictures follows)

Re: SS-Division "Prinz Eugen" photos
Actually, it might be 1943 as well, and it shows men of V Mountain Corps (one of the men can be seen wearing Prinz Eugen cuff title, but that's only because he didn't remove from his uniform, which was allowed, and not because he still served in it), where that mysterious Hstuf./Stubaf. served in since 1943 (I've just found him as Stubaf. in a 1943 photo of V Mountain Corps staff). Thank you for additional photos!Paul99 wrote:Ivan, he was first at AA7 and later V.SS-Mountain-Korps/Stab. Why do you think, the year is 1944?? (Pictures follows)

Here he is again (so he was transferred to V Mountain Corps in 1943 and promoted to Stubaf)

Re: SS-Division "Prinz Eugen" photos
Ivan, do you know who is the SS-Obersturmbannführer who hold a glass in the center, in Paul's picture?

Not at the moment... He does look familiar though.AlifRafikKhan wrote:Ivan, do you know who is the SS-Obersturmbannführer who hold a glass in the center, in Paul's picture?
Re: SS-Division "Prinz Eugen" photos
The same Stubaf. from the footage appears also in a photo with Staf. Ernst Ludwig. And according to Phil Nix's (†) note, he was possibly a member of staff of Ers. u. Ausb. Prinz Eugen. Any IDs now perhaps...?Ivan Ž. wrote:Rare footage of "Prinz Eugen" division:
(officer at 0:22 - 0:24 might be Stubaf. Künstler, divisional communications commander; I haven't seen a photo of him, so can't claim it)

Maybe SS-Hstuf. Meckelburg commander III/2 (III/GebJgRgt 2)?Ivan Ž. wrote:He reminded me of Deutsch too. But it can't be him, since this is 1943 and he arrived in PE the following year (nearly a year after Phleps & Eberhardt left the division).Michael Miller wrote:Could that be SS-Staf. Re: SS-Division "Prinz Eugen" photos
Ha, I missed that portrait photo of Künstler, thank you. Well, I think you might be right! The only two things confusing me are the ears (although it's not the same angle) and the fact that I don't know if he was awarded with the Iron Cross, whose ribbon the Ostubaf. next to Phleps is wearing. Otherwise, those seem to be the same unusual eyes, nose, mouth...Gespenster wrote:Hi!AlifRafikKhan wrote:Photos collection of Thomas E. Nutter, taken from NARA Archives.
