In the photo "Waffen SS soldiers on British jeep......Holland ?", I've always thought that might be a "Wallonien" armshield on the SS-Uschaf's right sleeve (the man at center). Can anyone else confirm or deny that?

Best,

No mistake from your end, Francy, this General IS General Leclerc and his decision to execute by fire squad those POW is the sole stain I could find in his rather glorious record.
Nobody is perfect!
Pay a visit to the link I mentioned, you will see there photos of their tombs.
I can give you details but I think this topic has been already developped here.

But a mistake from my end: I loaded here phots available on the net and read, after, the remark of the moderator asking us NOT to do it but simply mention the link

Ooopps, I just realised that my link bring you to the homepage and the website is in French, you may get lost

So, when reaching the homepage, click on "entrez sur le site" = enter the site
Then, click on "Bad Reichenall", see in "agonie de la Charlemagne, top of right column
And here you are.

Ouaouh! And with the accent "problèmes", Francy can speak, write and read French!

Shall we start few threads in French, just to check how long it takes to wear out the patience of the moderators :P

Thanks, Francy, my pleasure.

Daniel

Hello Cameraden! :)

.....In recent developments on here with the ID of Kuhbandner and Prasch I am going to submit my idea that the guy in the top photo with tropical hat is possibly Helmut Prasch. He was in Das Reich, and this guy wears a Das Reich cufftitle, which not many of the 24th SS Karstjager wore, we know from archive sources that Prasch was attached to Karstjager and that he was in Das Reich at one time, this guy also wears the same awards as Prasch recieved. Any thoughts..? It was pondered that perhaps, as John Moore said, Prasch was attached as an intelligence role to the Karstjager, and so as such could well have been the sort of guy to be negotiating a surrender. Ideas..????
Kind regards....

....it definately isn't Kuhbandner, on another post this was discussed. Serves me right 4 years ago for assuming a photo in a book was correctly captioned before I knew more.
I think the guy in the top photo may be Helmut Prasch...

Regarding the execution of French Waffen-SS members at Bad Reichenhall, Supposedly one Waffen-SS soldier was asked by LeLerc why he was in a SS uniform. The Waffen-SS man quickly replied, General, what are you doing in and American uniform... Supposedly (According to Fritz Hall) this is what got them killed.
