Staf de Clercq was a little known figure in Belgian Fascist politics (not as well known as Leon Degrelle and the Rexists).
Wikipedia has little to say about him. What is the sailor uniform in picture? Was Staf a naval person? What does the triangle symbol stand for in his party flag? How did he die? Thanks. Duncan

Re: Staf de Clercq
He died from a heart attack (on the age of 58) and his uniform was not the uniform of a sailor but that of his party .And,he was not a fascist ,from what I remember ,the VNV (party of De Clercq) had no relations with Mussolini.
Re: Staf de Clercq
The triangle (Delta flag) is referring to the 3 great rivers of the Netherlands: the Schelde (Escaut),Maas (Meuse) and the Rijn .
Re: Staf de Clercq
Thankyou for the answers. Many of these personalities are generally lumped together by English language historians as "fascists" even when not influenced by Mussolini, so please forgive me the "Fascist" label -but it's where you find de Clercq's name mentioned here in America- in books on "Fascism".
