I am trying to do some research on the ethnic german volunteers from romania. Specifically, SS divisions Viking, Nederlands. Are there any experts out there on this topic?

Your input is much appreciated.

Thanks,

'Course the interesting question is why mobilize the Belorussian MD when
the Kiev MD is far closer to the rail line in Romania that will deliver
any troops to the Czechs. Ostensibly it was to persuade the Poles not to
militarily cooperate with the Germans in dismembering Czechoslovakia,
but I've always wondered if Stalin would have liked a chance to redo the
Battle of Warsaw in 1920

The family of one of my work colleagues in Greisheim was allowed into Germany from Romania in 1986. His Opa, who I met, fought for Germany, although I did not have the impertinence to ask for details, but my work colleague stated that his oPa was in the Waffen SS, and that the family, being Volkdeutsch, got one hell of a hard time in the post war years.

However, his volunteering was more of a 'you will join'.
