There is a new book on the Druzhina SS Brigade by D.A. Zhukov. Unfortunately it is only in Russian

There are snapshots of this book's contents at this link. I can't read Russian, but I think is an interesting photo of a group of Druzhina SS Brigade men in paratrooper gear at the link below

Hi Semenov

Thanks for the correction. Unfortunately this book is highly unlikely to get its English version :(

Hi,

On the frontcover of the book appears a cufftitle, which doesnt look like russian cyrillic letters. Is it in georgian? And do someone knows what is means?
Thanks in advance

There is a thread in the Foreign Volunteers and Collaboration section that mentioned the possibility of the Druzhina SS/SD Brigade using the cuff title "Za Rus" (For Russia) but there are no evidence that it was worn

Hi Panzermahn,

Thanks again for excellent photos. I was guessing that it would be the famous "Za Rus" cuffband, if it ever existed. I was checking and it isnt in georgian alphapets, as I thought first. It just looked so much. But still I cannot figure the russian cyrillic in this. Maybe it is so artistic letters. I also see six letters in two words, which doesnt go with "Za Rus" with five letters. Any russian speaker in the forum? Thanks.

Cheers

Hi Semenov

Many thanks for your reply. Have you ever seen any photos of Russian personnel of the Druzhina SS/SD Brigade apart from Rodionov's pictures? I saw some Druzhina soldbuchs but that's just about it.

According to Biddiscombe, Druzhina SS Brigade has a Russian prince who was the titular commander, Count Mirsky. Do you know anything about it?

And I am not too sure why the author mentioned about Zeppelin units since the Druzhina SS Brigade were more like an antipartisan unit rather than saboteur detachment

Yes, I see also one

Biddiscombe is wrong. Mirsky wasn't titular CO of Druzhina. Colonel prince Leonid Sergeevich Swaytopolk-Mirsky was former russian fascists leader in Brazilian. In Druzhina he was ArKo - artillery CO.

Hi Semenov

Thanks for the correction on Count Mirsky.

I hope to see a book in English published about Druzhina SS Brigade in the calibre of For Europe (by Robert Forbes)

Hi,
Did men of Druzhina wear SS runes or blank right hand collar patch?
Thanks
