Volunteer Newssheets & Magazines
Volunteer Newssheets & Magazines
Hi,
The SS had its "Das Schwarze Korps" newspaper, but many other newssheets, newspapers and magazines existed before and during the WWII. So also had the foreign volunteers their own ones, many times published in their language.
Here I will collect very few ones that I had seen examples.
What others existed? Finnish had few war time magazines, but not any specific one for their volunteers in SS. But I can image that walloons, indians, croatians, spanish etc had their own. Can you send information and photos of them, please.
Thank you very much in advance.
Cheers

2. Norwegian branch of Allgemeine SS: Germanske SS Norge´s newspaper, whose editor was SS-nestlagforer Egil Holst Torkildsen. Source: My drawing few decades ago.
3. Norwegians, Dutch and Flamish newsheet in eastern front:

A shot from of own collection, different numbers of "De SS-Man", published by the Germanische-SS in Flanders, but also distributed on the front.
Do you have some other shots of "Der Kamerad", never heard of this newspaper before. Is it maybe possible to get shots of all pages?
Thanks,
Michaël
Re: Volunteer´s newssheets & magazines
Hi,
I will cite the book of Hugh Page Taylor: Uniforms of the SS, vol 2.
Germaansche SS in Nederland (Dutch Allgemeine SS):
HOOFDREDACTEUR "STORM"
Chief editor of "Storm"
HOOFDREDACTEUR "HAMER"
Chief editor of "Hamer"
So there were two newspapers called Storm and Hamer, but no further information.
Germaansche SS Vlaanderen (Flemish SS):
"De SS man" newspaper, whose editor-in-chief was Ward Hermans (no rank), which Michael sent us nice examples. Thanks Michael .
Germanske SS Norge (Norwegian SS):
Evidence of the strong connection between Hird (Norwegian SA) and Norwegian SS can be found in the fact for some time they shared the same newepaper - "Hirdmannen". For from the issue dated May 24th, 1941, to that of April 4th , 1942, "Hirdmannen" was subtitled "Kamporgan for Rikshird og Norges SS". It was over a year after the formation of the Norwegian SS that they founded their own newspaper, and the first issue of "Germareren - Kamporgan for Germanske SS Norge" appeared on July 25th, 1942.
Cheers

Re: Volunteer´s newssheets & magazines
The first editor-in-chief of “De SS-Man” was Ward Hermans, in 1941 he was succeeded by Maurits van de Walle.
There where two “Hamer” magazines, a Dutch and a Flemish one, the first was published by the “Germaansche Werkgemeenschap Nederland”, the second by the “Germaansche Werkgemeenschap Vlaanderen”. These organisations where part of “Ahnenerbe” and where supported by the SS, they grouped scientists who where loyal to the national-socialist and Pan-Germanic program of the SS. Not all members of the “Germaansche Werkgemeenschap” where members of the SS.

Re: Volunteer´s newssheets & magazines
Hi,
This one I was looking for long time. The edition is telling about the death of AH. It must have been very few last magazines. Or the last one.

Re: Volunteer´s newssheets & magazines
Thanks Peeter
Very interesting photos.
I published this already in a wrong place. But forum members who could know about it maybe don´t see it. An anti-american poster published in Holland, but by who? Could the text low right tell something?
Thanks

Re: Volunteer´s newssheets & magazines
"Leest Storm SS"
'Leest' is a verb that comes from 'Lezen' that's wy it didn't translate.
It means "Read Storm SS" and Storm SS was the newspaper of the Germaanse SS Nederland (Dutch)
Greetings
Wim

Any information about Flemisch in German service (Waffen SS, OT, NSKK, Kriegsmarine, DRK, ...) during WWII is welcome.
Re: Volunteer´s newssheets & magazines
The Dutch Allgemeine´s newspaper "Storm SS".
Re: Volunteer´s newssheets & magazines
From Antonio Muñoz: East came west: An Arab member of the 845th German-Arab Infantry Battalion sits down to read the Arabic language version of the German propaganda magazine "Signal".
Re: Volunteer´s newssheets & magazines
